Usage Note

Gigoter is an informal verb describing restless squirming, most often used of children or animals who cannot keep still. It is related to gigot (leg of lamb), suggesting the image of kicking legs. The verb is regular -er and entirely colloquial; in formal writing se tortiller or s'agiter would be preferred.
