Usage Note
Frisé describes hair that is curly or tightly waved, and is the past participle of friser ('to curl'). The feminine form is frisée. Frisée is also the name of a type of curly-leafed endive lettuce in French cooking. Les cheveux frisés contrast with les cheveux raides (straight hair) and les cheveux ondulés (wavy hair).
