Foireux is informal/argot, derived from foire (a mess, originally a fair). It describes plans, ideas, or objects that are poorly conceived or likely to fail: un plan foireux is a half-baked scheme. The feminine form is foireuse. In polite or written French, douteux or bancal are safer equivalents.
