finition

finish, finishing work

noun fee-nee-SYOHN Rare

Usage Note

Finition refers to the quality of the final surface treatment or detailing of a product — les finitions d'une voiture (the finish of a car) or les finitions d'un appartement (the finishing touches on a flat). Craftspeople distinguish finition brute (rough finish) from finition laquée (lacquered finish). The plural les finitions is far more common than the singular.
