Faucher literally means to scythe or mow grass, and by extension to cut down (a person hit by a vehicle: il s'est fait faucher par une voiture). In colloquial French it also means to steal or swipe something: on m'a fauché mon portefeuille (someone swiped my wallet). The related noun faucheuse means a reaper or mowing machine.
