exaucer

to grant, to fulfil (a wish)

verb eg-zoh-SEH Rare

Origin: Latin 'exaudire' (to hear out)

Usage Note

exaucer is used almost exclusively for wishes, prayers, or requests being granted or answered, often in religious or elevated language (Dieu a exaucé sa prière = God answered his prayer). It should not be confused with exécuter (to carry out) or accorder (to grant). The subject is typically a higher power or authority.

Examples

Natural Translation
