Usage Note

etc (sometimes written etc.) is the standard abbreviation of et cætera in French. It is always preceded by a comma and should not be followed by another comma before a full stop. Unlike in some languages, it is never doubled (etc. etc. is nonstandard in French). It is read aloud as et cætera.
