Envelopper describes physically wrapping something (a gift, a parcel) but also works figuratively — enveloppé dans le mystère means 'shrouded in mystery'. The noun enveloppe (envelope, wrapping) shares the same root. The reflexive s'envelopper means to wrap oneself up, often in a blanket or coat.
