Usage Note

Enchanté is the standard French phrase used when meeting someone for the first time, equivalent to 'pleased to meet you'. The feminine form is enchantée. Beyond introductions, it can describe genuine delight or, in older literary French, being under a magic spell (its literal etymological sense).
