Usage Note
Employeur is the formal term for an employer, used in contracts, legal documents, and labour law (le droit du travail). The feminine form is l'employeuse, though l'employeur is used generically. Its counterpart is l'employé(e) (employee). Les employeurs as a collective refers to the employer side in les partenaires sociaux (unions and employer bodies).
