Emmerde is a coarse, vulgar term for a problem or nuisance — a learner should understand it when heard but use it only in informal contexts among close friends. The more polite alternatives are problème, ennui, or souci. The related verb emmerder (to annoy, to bug) is equally vulgar and very common in casual speech.
