Usage Note
Désirable can describe both people (physically attractive, coveted) and things or situations (worth wanting). It is slightly more literary or formal than souhaitable, and carries a stronger sense of active desire or attraction. The noun désir ('desire') and the verb désirer ('to desire, to want') form the same family.
