Dynamite is a feminine noun in French, as with most words ending in -ite. It is used literally for the explosive and colloquially to mean something impressively powerful or exciting: C'est de la dynamite ! ('It's dynamite!'). The inventor Nobel later funded the Nobel Prizes.
