Usage Note

Doublement intensifies an adjective or verb by indicating something applies in two respects or to double the degree: il est doublement coupable ('he is doubly guilty'). It is also used as a noun (masculine) meaning 'doubling': le doublement du nombre de cas ('the doubling of the number of cases').
