Usage Note

Dialyse refers to the medical procedure that filters waste from the blood when the kidneys cannot — specifically hémodialyse (haemodialysis). A patient who undergoes it is said to être sous dialyse or to faire de la dialyse several times a week. The adjective dialysé describes a patient dependent on dialysis.
