Usage Note
Découler is almost always used with de — découler de means 'to result from' or 'to flow from'. It is a formal, written-register verb that draws on the image of liquid flowing downward (couler = to flow). It is commonly found in academic, legal, and analytical writing and is rarely heard in casual conversation.
