Usage Note

Croco is a casual clipping of crocodile, used both for the animal itself and for crocodile-skin leather goods such as a sac en croco (croc-skin bag). In French the Lacoste brand, whose logo is a crocodile, is informally called le croco by some speakers. The word is invariable in its shortened form.
