Courtier refers to a professional intermediary who negotiates deals on behalf of clients, most often in finance or real estate: un courtier en assurances ('an insurance broker'), un courtier immobilier ('a real-estate agent'). The feminine is courtière. Do not confuse with courtisan ('courtier at a royal court').
