Usage Note
Courge is the general French term for gourds and squashes of the Cucurbita genus. Common varieties include la courgette (the diminutive, meaning 'zucchini/courgette') and la citrouille (pumpkin). Courge is also used colloquially in Quebec French to call someone dim-witted.
