Usage Note
Chevelu describes someone with notably long or thick hair and can carry a slightly dismissive or humorous tone. The feminine form is chevelue, and it should not be confused with chevelu used as a noun in botany to mean a mass of fine rootlets. The noun chevelure (f) means a head of hair.
