Usage Note
Buisson refers to a wild, untrimmed shrub as opposed to a haie (hedge) or arbuste (cultivated shrub). It appears in the expression buisson ardent, the 'burning bush' of biblical fame. The diminutive image also lies behind faire l'école buissonnière (to play truant).
