Usage Note
Brûlant describes something extremely hot to the touch (le sable brûlant = burning sand) or a topic so sensitive it is 'hot' — une question brûlante ('a burning issue'). It is the present participle of brûler ('to burn') used as an adjective, and agrees in gender and number: brûlante, brûlants, brûlantes.
