bienvenue

welcome

noun interjection byaN-vuh-NOO Less Common

Origin: bien + venu (well come)

Usage Note

Bienvenue is used as both a noun (la bienvenue — the welcome) and an exclamation. Souhaiter la bienvenue à quelqu'un means to welcome someone.
