Barjo is a verlan (French back-slang) inversion of jobard (gullible fool). It is informal and slightly dated slang for someone eccentric or mentally unstable. It is invariable in gender and number: il est barjo, elle est barjo. Synonyms include dingue, cinglé, and loufoque.
