Usage Note

Aérien agrees in gender and number: aérienne (f), aériens (m pl). It describes anything relating to the air or aviation — une ligne aérienne is an airline, and trafic aérien is air traffic. In a poetic or descriptive sense it can also mean 'light and airy' (une grâce aérienne).
