Aggraver (double 'g') means to make a situation worse; the reflexive s'aggraver means 'to deteriorate, to get worse'. Learners should not confuse it with graver (to engrave) — note the double consonant. It is common in medical and legal contexts: aggraver son cas (to make one's situation worse).
