Usage Note

Électrifier means either to supply a railway line or region with electric power (électrifier une ligne de chemin de fer) or, figuratively, to thrill an audience — la foule était électrifiée ('the crowd was electrified'). It is a regular -ifier verb. The noun is électrification (f).
