Usage Note

Tiercé is a form of French pari-mutuel horse-race betting where the punter picks the first three horses in finishing order (dans l'ordre or dans le désordre). It was launched in France in 1954 and became a major national pastime before being absorbed into the broader PMU (Pari Mutuel Urbain) system alongside quarté and quinté+.
