texture

texture

noun teks-TÜR Rare

Origin: Latin textura (web, weaving)

Usage Note

Texture is used in French exactly as in English — for food ('une texture crémeuse'), materials, and digital/3-D graphics. In cooking contexts it often replaces the older word consistance. The adjective texturé (textured) is common in cosmetics and food-industry labelling.

Examples

"La texture de ce fromage est très crémeuse."

Natural Translation

The texture of this cheese is very creamy.
