Usage Note

Terrifiant is the present participle of terrifier used as an adjective, meaning something that causes terror. The feminine form is terrifiante. It is stronger than effrayant (scary) and closer to 'terrifying' in register. C'est terrifiant is commonly used as an exclamation meaning 'it's terrifying' or 'it's horrifying'.
