Usage Note

Tente is the standard word for a camping tent. Monter une tente means 'to pitch a tent.' It is also used metaphorically in tente à oxygène (oxygen tent, a medical device). Note that tente looks identical to the third-person singular present of tenter (to tempt/attempt) — context always clarifies.
