Usage Note
Tentation is always feminine and means the urge to do something, often something one should resist. The biblical phrase la tentation de saint Antoine ('the temptation of Saint Anthony') is a cultural reference for irresistible enticement. The verb is tenter — je suis tenté ('I am tempted').
