Usage Note
Tarte in French nearly always refers to an open-faced pastry with a filling — closer to an English 'tart' than a covered pie. Tarte aux pommes (apple tart) is one of the most iconic French desserts. In colloquial French, c'est pas de la tarte means 'it's no easy task.'
Examples
"Elle a préparé une tarte aux fraises."
Natural Translation
She made a strawberry tart.
