Usage Note
Suture is primarily a medical term for stitches closing a wound, but it also appears in anatomy for immovable joints between bones (as in les sutures du crâne, the cranial sutures). The verb suturer means to suture or stitch up a wound. In everyday speech, point de suture (stitch) is the common phrase.
