Stupidité refers to the quality of being stupid, or to a stupid act. In everyday French, la bêtise is the more colloquial and widely used word for 'silliness' or 'stupid thing', while stupidité sounds more formal or severe. Dire des stupidités means 'to talk nonsense'.
