Usage Note

Stabilité applies to physical, political, economic, and psychological contexts alike. The adjective stable is identical in French and English. The opposite is l'instabilité, and the verb stabiliser means 'to stabilize'. In engineering contexts, la stabilité can refer to structural or aerodynamic balance.
