Usage Note

Sonnet is a fourteen-line poem with a fixed rhyme scheme. The French sonnet tradition was established in the 16th century by Joachim du Bellay and Pierre de Ronsard. The silent final -t is the standard silent French consonant rule: never pronounce it.
