Usage Note

serrurier is the tradesperson who makes and fits locks (une serrure). Calling a locksmith is common in France when locked out: appeler un serrurier. The trade (la serrurerie) also covers decorative ironwork. The feminine form is une serrurière, though the trade remains male-dominated.
