Rejeter doubles the -t- before a mute e (like jeter): il rejette, ils rejettent. It is used for rejecting a proposal, dismissing a claim, or throwing something back (rejeter une balle). The noun rejet covers both the act of rejection and, in botany, a new shoot sprouting from a plant.
