Usage Note

Reconstituer means to rebuild something that existed before (reconstituer un dossier — to reassemble a file) or to re-enact an event (reconstitution historique — historical re-enactment). Reconstitution is the derived noun. It is notably used in police work: reconstitution du crime (crime reconstruction).
