Publier covers traditional publishing (publier un livre — to publish a book) and modern digital contexts (publier une photo — to post a photo online). The noun is publication and the person who publishes is un éditeur (publisher) for books, or simply the platform in digital contexts. Avoid confusing publier with éditer, which can mean to edit as well as to publish.
