Usage Note

Précipité describes an action done too quickly and without enough care. As a noun, un précipité is also the technical chemistry term for a precipitate (a solid formed in solution). The verb précipiter means both 'to rush' and 'to cause to fall headlong'; se précipiter means 'to rush forward or rush into something'.
