Paralysie is used both in its medical sense (loss of motor function) and figuratively, as in une paralysie décisionnelle (decision paralysis) or la paralysie des transports (transport shutdown). The verb paralyser means to paralyse. Paralysie cérébrale is the French term for cerebral palsy.
