Usage Note
Pêcheur (fisherman) is a near-homophone of pécheur (sinner) — the only difference is the circumflex accent on the first 'e'. In spoken French the two sound nearly identical, which has long been a source of wordplay. The feminine form is pêcheuse.
Examples
"Le pêcheur est sorti tôt ce matin."
Natural Translation
The fisherman went out early this morning.
