Ode in French denotes an elaborate lyric poem, often celebratory or meditative, associated with Pindar in antiquity and Ronsard in the French Renaissance. It is feminine, so une ode. Keats's 'Ode to a Nightingale' is rendered Ode à un rossignol in French translation.
