Noyé is the past participle of noyer ('to drown') used as a noun, meaning someone who has drowned. The feminine form is noyée. Figuratively, être noyé de travail means 'to be swamped with work'. As an adjective, des yeux noyés de larmes means 'eyes swimming in tears'.
