Usage Note
lutin describes a mischievous fairy-tale creature, similar to a goblin or pixie. It is also used affectionately for a mischievous child: quel petit lutin! (what a little rascal!). The feminine lutine exists but is rare; lutiner (to tease, to flirt with) is a derived verb.
