Usage Note
Inéluctable describes something from which there is no escape — fate, death, decline — and carries a fatalistic, often literary weight: la fin inéluctable ('the inescapable end'). It is invariable in gender (same masculine and feminine form); the adverb inéluctablement ('inexorably') is also used in formal prose.
