Origin: from Latin incultus 'untilled'

Usage Note

Inculte describes land that is untilled or uncultivated, but is equally common applied to a person who lacks education or cultural refinement. It does not change form between masculine and feminine (un homme inculte, une personne inculte). The opposite is cultivé (educated, cultured).
