Féministe works as both a noun (une féministe — a feminist) and an adjective (un mouvement féministe — a feminist movement). The word is invariable in spelling for both genders as a noun: un féministe (m), une féministe (f). It has become increasingly prominent in French public discourse, and le féminisme is the corresponding movement noun.
